    Fondant Tips & Tricks

Whether you're bouncing in as a beginner or found your stride as a seasoned cake artist, Decorators Dough is about to become your new go-to. We’ve rounded up some frequently asked questions to help you get to know our newest decorating essential.

    Does it taste good?

We’re glad you asked - yes, it does! One of the most common complaints with fondant is it's overly sweet or "too much". Decorators Dough has been developed with a mild vanilla taste that won’t overpower your bakes. It’s soft, smooth and just sweet enough to compliment your cake without stealing the spotlight.

What should I use to colour white fondant?

White is picture perfect on its own or ready to mix with Oil Blend or Aqua Blend for unlimited shades! Both formulas blend seamlessly into Decorators Dough without making it sticky or altering the consistency, giving you perfect results every time.

Can I use Decorators Dough for modelling figures or just covering cakes?

You can do both! Our fondant is soft and pliable straight out of the pack, making it ideal for covering cakes with a flawless finish. If you’re working on more intricate shapes, let it sit out for a few minutes or mix in a little tylose powder to firm it up for figure modelling.

Can I emboss or texture the fondant?

Yes! It’s ideal for embossing, texturing, stamping and using with silicone moulds. Decorators Dough holds detail well without tearing or sticking.

How long does it last once opened?

Once opened, keep your fondant wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It’ll stay fresh for months if stored properly, no need to refrigerate!
