If you’ve ever coloured your buttercream only to find it looks pastel or muted, don’t panic, these things happen! Our pigments develop over time and with a few tricks up your sleeve, you can take your colours from blah to bold!
Let Time Do the Work
Our liquid pigments are like a good cheese or a fine wine - they get better with time! Colour your buttercream and let it rest in the fridge overnight or at least for a few hours. This allows the pigments to fully develop, meaning your colour will naturally deepen and become beautifully bright and vibrant.
Speed Things Up with the Microwave Method
Short on time? Try the microwave method: Place your coloured buttercream in the microwave. Heat in short bursts, mixing well between each interval. This gradual warming speeds up the pigment development process, making your colours pop faster. If your buttercream gets too soft, simply pop it back in the fridge until it firms up to your preferred consistency.
The Stick Blender Trick (Your Secret Weapon!)
One of the quickest and most dramatic ways to intensify your colour is to use a stick blender. Not only will it boost the vibrancy, but it will also transform your buttercream into the silkiest, smoothest texture. A true win-win!
